Effective Sunday, 20th June 2021, Bermudians who left the island between the periods of 1 July, 2020 and 6 May, 2021, who are required to quarantine at a designated facility, the cost of their stay will be covered by the Government of Bermuda.
Eligible persons (and Bermudian students returning home) may apply to have the Bermuda Government be responsible for paying for their stay at a Quarantine Hotel.
The following persons are eligible for exemption with written approval from the Ministry of Health through this online form:
1. Residents who left Bermuda prior to 6 May 2021 and after 1 July 2020 who have not returned to Bermuda between those dates; and,
2. Residents who booked travel reservations between 6 May and 15 June 2021 for travel outside Bermuda beginning on or before 19 June 2021.
Each traveller required to quarantine at a hotel should have a confirmed booking at a government-authorised hotel when applying for a Traveller Authorisation.
Applicants for Hotel Quarantine Fee Exemption, must apply at least 7 days before their intended arrival. Applications can take up to 72 hours to process.
Persons arriving in Bermuda without a Ministry of Health exemption must quarantine at a designated facility at the traveller’s expense until an exemption is granted. If needed, applications can also be processed by telephone by calling (441) 444-2498 (select option 1). Electronic communication will be required in order to submit the required documentation. Bermuda’s requirement to quarantine at a designated facility is in accordance with the Quarantine (Covid-19) (No.3) Amendment (No. 2) Order 2021.
NOTE: All travellers to Bermuda must have a Travel Authorisation.
